The Dean of Arts and Sciences will facilitate communication between faculty and administration, provide administrative assistance to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and encourage cohesion among groups of faculty who teach in the same broad academic and/or vocational areas.  The Dean will facilitate department standards of collegiality and academic excellence.

Dean of Arts and Sciences’ duties include:
 A. Coordinate and supervise educational experiences for the disciplines within the division by:

      1. Semester schedule development
      2. Procurement and implementation of equipment/supplies, electronic technology, applicable software, and learning resources for course delivery and enhancement
      3. Development, maintenance, supervision, and implementation of the divisional budget
      4. Monitor academic standards and identify opportunities to support them
      5. Convene division and/or discipline meetings regularly to plan, execute and assess discipline educational experiences
    1. Collaborate with discipline faculty and academic administrators, to include, but not limited to:
      1. Curriculum and programmatic development and revision
      2. Course and programmatic assessment and evaluation
      3. Master and course syllabi development and revision
      4. Textbook and course resources selection
      5. Development of didactic and experiential learning to meet specified degree, program, and course learner outcomes that align with the college’s strategic plan.
      6. Develop, review and update degree brochures, catalog entries, articulation agreements and degree curriculum plans of study annually.
      7. Support and monitor the development and evaluation of course and degree program course learner outcomes, academic assessments, and program reviews.
      8. Attend degree program advisory committee meetings annually or bi-annually as scheduled by the program director.
      9. Collect and report degree program graduate statistics as collected by the division program directors for annual and assessment reports.
      10. Advise division students as needed in coordination with division faculty and college advisors.
      11. Review request for transfer and prior learning assessment credit.
    1. Mentor, supervise, counsel and evaluate full-time and adjunct faculty.
    2. Monitor full-time and adjunct faculty attendance and teaching assignments.
    3. Champion academic assessment through the supervision of the assessment process and the supervision of the assessment coaches.
    4. Meet college criteria for professional growth within discipline areas and participate in division discipline-related professional development at the national, regional, and/or state level. Support faculty and staff needs in their needs for professional development.
    5. Research and keep abreast of current trends in all discipline areas supervised to assure divisional growth and development.
    6. Research and write for grants and external funding to support divisional initiatives.
    7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
