Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Services, the Dean of Student Support Services is responsible for, in coordination with other stakeholders, creating and implementing processes and strategic engagements designed to promote student success.

 

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

Provide management of The Learning Center (tutoring & testing)

Provide administrative oversight of the TRiO Upward Bound program;

Provide administrative oversight of College and Career coach and JAG programs;

Provide administrative oversight of Counseling and Disability Support Services

Prepares timely and accurate reports as mandated by state and federal agencies;

Manage departmental budget

Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

Master’s degree required; Strong organizational, communications, leadership, teamwork/collaboration, and computer skills required.

 

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in student personnel services, education, business, or a closely related area; Three years’ full-time experience in college student services areas required; knowledge and experience with tutoring and testing center; knowledge and skill in the use of integrated software systems (ERPs such as Jenzabar) and Microsoft Office applications; Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and the public; demonstrated commitment to an integrated management and systems, thereby utilizing the ability to work collaboratively; Strong oral and written communication skills; grant and budget management; Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to lead and manage change in a positive and inclusive manner.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master’s degree and five years’ experience in a higher education setting; three years of supervisory experience in related student support service areas with evidence of increasing levels of responsibility; Management experience with grants; Knowledge and skill in the use of Jenzabar; Knowledge and skill in the use of reporting tools; Experience with state and federal reporting requirements.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Director of TRiO Upward Bound, Director of Counseling and Disability Support Services, Tutor Coordinator, College and Career Coaches, and other related support staff.

 

Work Environment:

The position is primarily sedentary within an office environment. The position may require occasional outdoor or group gatherings.

 

Physical Demands:

The individual may kneel, squat, reach at or above shoulder level. The individual should have the ability to lift less than 50 pounds.

 

Travel Requirements:

The individual will have some travel required for training, work related meetings, and conferences
