Job Summary:

The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for the operation of the SouthArk Business Office and grant reporting functions.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile credit card bank account
  • Maintain course fees files and student charges/refunds setup
  • Review and approve Journal Entries and Daily Deposit
  • Responsible for accounting and daily operations of Foundation accounting
  • Record Direct Deposits in bank account with Journal Entries
  • Maintain grant files
  • Review and establish budgets for grants
  • Reconcile grant expenditures and record Journal Entries
  • Assist grant program directors
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist students with student account issues
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Effectively use technology in a fast-paced work environment with competence in Microsoft Outlook, Work, and Excel
  • Communicate verbally and in writing in an effective manner to students, faculty, staff and others
  • Ability to supervise a subordinate staff of Fiscal Support Technicians and Specialists.
  • Must possess strong accounting knowledge
  • Strong organizational, planning and effective time management skills
  • Self-motivated with an ability to develop fiscal processes
  • Some evening hours and occasional weekend work is expected

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting and three years’ experience in general bookkeeping

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
