Director of Student Engagement

Under the direction of the Dean of Student Success, the Director of Student Engagement, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, is responsible for developing and leading inclusive, student engagement initiatives designed to foster student success, retention, and completion. The director will design, administer, assess, and evaluate holistic student programming and leadership opportunities while serving as a leader in the student success department of student affairs. 

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Establish a comprehensive first-year experience program to include summer-bridge, freshmen student success courses, new student orientation, mentoring, and other related initiatives
  • Provide oversight to student activities including the student activity center and the Student Activities Coordinator
  • Provide leadership and guidance for student clubs and student organizations including but not limited to creating and conducting training for student clubs/organizations advisors and student leaders
  • Serve as an integral member on the campus team for the Policy, Equity, and Practice initiative through Complete College America including implementation on campus
  • Continued development of the Achieving the Dream holistic student supports initiative
  • Assess and evaluate student outcomes and assessment data to identify effectiveness and continuous improvement of programming
  • Monitor and maintain policy and procedure manuals for the department and student activity center
  • Maintain website pages and other resources related to student engagement and student activities
  • Manage student activities budget while coordinating with appropriate campus leaders 
  • Take part in professional development to identify and recommend best practices
  • Serves on committees and assist supervisor with other duties as assigned  

 

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education, student personnel services, business, or a closely related area and at least three years of closely related experience in a community college or university setting; Strong skills in organization, communication, leadership, teamwork/collaboration, and technology required; knowledge and skill in the use of integrated software systems (ERPs such as Jenzabar) and Microsoft Office applications including excel; Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and the public; demonstrated commitment to an integrated management and systems, thereby utilizing the ability to work collaboratively; grant and budget management; Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to lead and manage change in a positive and inclusive manner.
