CAREER CLOSET

The Career Closet serves students who need professional attire for job interviews or work.  The Career Closet includes men's and women's clothing and accessories.  It is a free service for students.  If you are in need, please e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. Donations of clean, professional clothing are also appreciated.    

SOUTHARK FOOD PANTRY

Stars Market serves SouthArk students and employees who need assistance with food and toiletries. It is located in Mahony Family Library and is free to use. Stars Market is not open to the public.

Information for additional help services, such as food pantries, homeless shelters, or domestic violence shelters across Union County and the surrounding counties in Arkansas is also located on the SouthArk webpage at: https://www.southark.edu/images/student-services/resource-guide.pdf.

  

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS

Nonperishable food donations can be left at the collection boxes across campus, in the Mahony Family Library, or in Stars Market. While we are grateful for anything you can offer, please understand that Stars Market has to abide by strict rules of sanitation and hygiene. As a result, we are selective in what we can receive and give out to our students and employees.

What You Can Donate:

  • Non-Perishable Foods, including:
    • Rice (bags of about 1 pound each)
    • Ramen noodles
    • Soup
    • Canned fruit
    • Canned vegetables
    • Beans (bags or cans)
    • Peanut Butter
    • Canned Meat (Spam, Ravioli, etc.)
    • Cereal and oatmeal if it is a few months from the expiration date.
    • Plastic bags ( Wal-Mart,  Brookshires, etc. -- for bagging cans for clients)
  • Toiletries, such as:
    • laundry detergent
    • toilet paper (individually wrapped rolls)
    • toothbrushes (still packaged)
    • toothpaste
    • Paper towels (individually wrapped rolls)
    • deodorant (men's and women's)
    • shaving cream 

If you suspect a student or staff member is in need, please feel free to remind co-workers and students about the Stars Market and Career Closet.
