Culinary

SouthArk’s Culinary Arts Program offers short-term training programs to help you step into any kitchen, work with suppliers, and lead professionals across the foodservice industry.

The non-credit and professional classes are provided in four formats: Boot Camps and Workshops, ServSafe Certifications, Corporate Team Building, and Community Education classes in collaboration with the Mahony Family Library.

Boot Camps & Workshops

Multi-day classes are offered throughout each semester, which focus on specific skills to help you develop culinary skills. The classes teach topics such as knife skills, menu planning, flavors & flavorings, Mise En Place, stocks & sauces, meats, seafoods, vegetables and sandwiches, breads, and desserts.

ServSafe Certifications

Let us help you earn or renew a ServSafe certification. This 8-hour class prepares those in the foodservices industry to earn a ServSafe Food Manager certification. Upon completion, the students must pass a proctored assessment in one of SouthArk’s computer labs to receive the certification. Food handler classes are available; however, they are scheduled at the request of a local foodservice provider.

Corporate Team Building

Bring your team to our culinary lab for a day of collaboration and improved communication. Our chef will design a class around your interests and help them work together to create a fantastic menu. Contact Chef Enzor for more information.

Community Education

Our culinary program collaborates with the Mahoney family library to provide community education classes. These one to three night programs provide a hands-on learning experience to improve your culinary skills. Go to SouthArk Events Calendar - South Arkansas College and look at the Community Education calendar for upcoming classes.
