Upward Bound-Part Time Office Assistant/Peer Mentor

Job Summary:

The Upward Bound Program is seeking applicants for part-time Office Assistant/Peer Mentor. This position will provide clerical support to the Upward Bound program, and will be mentors to EHS students in the program. Must provide a good balance of technical and people skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, must be able to commit for 6 weeks, and work well with staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment. This is a grant-funded position and is governed by state and federal laws and institutional policy.

Salary: $12 per hour. Hours may vary for this position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Office assistant will report to Upward Bound staff for all office and mentor direction and needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Light typing, mail, filing, posting social media for the program.

·       Mentorship to participants of Upward Bound program

·       Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

·       Must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

·       Exceptional organizational skills.

·       Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Office, as well as other computer applications. 

·       Must be able to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, handle confidential materials appropriately, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Required Education and Experience:

Current College- going students. Must have experience in mentorship, youth activities and engagement.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking; with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
