Course Content Creation

You are allowed to have a mix of courses in the Ultra Course View and the Original Course View. Choose the course view that works best for each of your courses. Both course views appear seamlessly in your course list. You can fully explore your Original course in the Ultra preview before you switch to the Ultra Course View. You can also review a list of features and functions that change or won't carry forward if you convert.

Note
Once you switch your course to Ultra Course View, you cannot return your class to Original View.
If you select Original, you can still change to Ultra Course View. 
Sandbox courses have been set up for you to experience your course in the Ultra Course View for you to practice.
All courses will go to Ultra Course View in Fall of 2021.

Creating content in your Ultra courses is simple. There are several ways you can add or upload content to your course. You can create new course content items, copy content from other courses, upload files from your computer, add items from your Content Collection, add files from cloud storage, and add content and tools from external sources from the Content Market.

On the Course Content page, you can create a document or page to present a combination of content. For example, you can include introductory text for a lesson, an audio file of a lecture, and an image. When students select the document title, the materials you added are all presented together on one page. Students see the content just as you see it, without the editing options.

The editor appears wherever you can format text, such as in assignments, tests, and discussions. You can add bullet and numbered lists, and bold and italicized text. Use the Text Style menu to add headings. You can also launch the math editor to embed mathematical formulas in your text. The WIRIS editor opens in a new window.

Share content and tools with your students from third-party providers. Integration is supported by LTI open standards so students have access based on enrollment, leaving you worry free when it comes to content distribution.

A Learning Module consists of content items with an accompanying path for progressing through the items. Faculty can decide whether students should view the content sequentially or whether they can view the content in any order that they choose. Any type of content, including text, audio, video, quizzes or even a Mashup may be included in a Learning Module. Files are added or edited in a Learning Module in the same manner as they are in any Content Area.

You can use learning modules in your course as a container for organized collections of content. Modules let students navigate from one content item to the next without distractions or extra clicks. A learning module helps immerse students in the lesson or concept you're teaching.

To copy materials from an Original Course to an Ultra Course, use the Course Copy tool in the Original Course. The materials will be copied and converted in a single step.

• Open the Ultra course you want to copy content to
• Navigate to where you want the content to be placed and click the Plus icon
• Click Copy Content
• Your other Ultra courses will be listed in the side panel. To copy an entire course, click the check box. To copyselected content, click the course name to and check the boxes next to the content you would like to copy
• Click Copy Selected Content

Status indicators on the Course Content page show the progress of the copy process.

In the Ultra Course View, you can use Batch Edit to update common settings across all content. Batch Edit lets you control content settings in one place and all at once to save you time managing your course.

Update course content settings across all or parts of your content, at one time. Such as: making multiple content folders available to students to view at one time.

You want to be confident that your course is well-designed and functions as you expect—before your students see it. With student preview, you can review the course content from a student's perspective. You can also validate course behaviors.
