Position: Dual and Concurrent Credit Coordinator/ Education Faculty (9 month)

Reports To: Dean of Arts and Sciences/ VPAA

JOB PURPOSE:

To promote secondary student enrollment, progression, and completion through dual credit/ concurrent coursework.  The 9-month position will be 40% administrative duties associated with the facilitation of dual credit enrollment and 60% instruction in Education for the Educators Pipeline Pilot.  A stipend will be planned for summer work related to coordinating fall course enrollments.

 

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Liaise between SouthArk and the regional high schools to schedule and enroll students in dual and concurrent enrollment.
  • Promote concurrent enrollment and dual enrollment of high school students interested in an Education degree path.
  • Track secondary student progress on the Educator Pipeline pathway.
  • Coordinate paperwork collection, registration, and reporting of dual and concurrent enrollment with the registrar’s office.
  • Coordinate student tuition payments with the business office and facilitate the use of the concurrent challenge where applicable.
  • Schedule and deliver Education courses either online or in-person/hybrid to accommodate dually enrolled high school students in collaboration with the Education Program Director.
  • Plan, organize, manage, oversee and evaluate the student learning and activities involved with learning, including implementing strategies in traditional and online learning classrooms.
  • Plan and evaluate student performance; establish student performance requirements and development targets; monitor student performance and provide coaching for student performance improvement and development
  • Participates in assessment of student learning, presents statistical data, research findings, and recommends appropriate action to institutional stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Education Program Director in the development of new traditional and distance learning course offerings

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Experience with program or curriculum management and student advising.
  • Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Develop and use a syllabus for each course within college, discipline, and departmental guidelines and submit one copy to each the Education Program Director and Dean.
  • Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials in collaboration with Education Program Director.
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
  • Use equipment and facilities responsibly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom and willingness to explore new instructional methodologies.

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in Education or Teaching, or a Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in Education or Teaching. Minimum of two (2) years of college level teaching experience required.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience in teaching concurrent or dual credit courses for college credit strongly preferred.  Additional college level teaching credentials are also preferred.

Other Job Duties:

Academic advising, service on institutional committees and councils.
