Part-Time English Second Language (ESL) Faculty position is available with the Adult Education Department in Bradley County.  This faculty member will assist English Language Learners (ELL) to increase their competency in the core areas of speaking, reading, and writing in the English language.  Other areas of focus will be with assisting students in obtaining their GED or Arkansas High School Diploma and/or WAGE Certifications.

Duties:             1. Instruct students in the main content areas of speaking, reading, and writing in the English language.  Instruct students in the main content areas for GED or Arkansas High School Diploma and/or WAGE Certifications.  Blended learning with classroom instruction and online software is to be utilized.  Approved online tools are Essential Education and Burlington English.

  1. 2. Assist students with preparing for assessments. Approved assessments are TABE Clas-E and BEST.
  2. 3. Participate in professional development activities as required by the department and State of Arkansas.
  3. 4. Assist with advising and retention of adult students.
  4. 5. Stay up-to-date with State policies, have knowledge of current trends in learning styles, and assist students in obtaining accommodations.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education and current Arkansas Teaching Certificate.  TESOL certification preferred but not required.  Skills include previous teaching experience, basic computer skills, a student-centered teaching philosophy, and good communication and organization skills.

Term:               Part-Time positions are contracted on a year-to-year basis depending on availability of State/Federal funds budgeted to the Adult Education Department.
